Our Approach to Supporting RLOs and CBOs

RefugePoint has long recognized the vital role that refugee-led organizations (RLOs) and community based organizations (CBOs) play in responding to the needs of their own communities. RefugePoint exchanges knowledge, skills, and learning with RLOs and CBOs and provides resources to support and strengthen the important work these organizations are doing to elevate lasting solutions in refugee communities. RefugePoint takes a three-pronged approach to support RLOs and CBOs:

Coordination
Capacity Strengthening
Financial Support
Speaker on Refugee-Led Efforts Coordination

Supporting refugee-led organization (RLO) coordination through the development of RLO-networks, as well as working with other agencies that are supporting RLOs to share learning, promote common understanding related to ongoing coordination efforts, opportunities for joint work, and common challenges.

Refugee-Led Efforts Capacity Strengthening

Convening cohorts of refugee-led organizations (RLOs) and community based organizations (CBOs) to provide training and mentoring on technical and operational priorities identified by the cohorts, and to facilitate networking, knowledge sharing and exchange.

Youth Voices Community Financial Support

Directly supporting refugee-led organizations (RLOs) and community based organizations (CBOs) with funding to complement capacity strengthening and facilitating connections between funders and RLOs and CBOs to channel increased funding directly to these groups.

Grants for RLOs

We have issued grants to nine refugee-led organizations and continue to grow the grant portfolio each year.

RLOFIN TRAINING

The Peer-to-Peer Learning Sessions have helped Oak Solutions learn from other community-based organizations (CBOs) and establish relationships at our level. The sessions are inspiring as we meet peer organizations going through similar challenges but keeping the hope alive as we work with local solutions to our challenges.
