Justin will attend the festival in person and will take questions after the film Saturday. Many thanks to RefugePoint volunteer and benefactor Kristi Maynard for helping to bring the film to the Vineyard. Thanks too to the festival’s organizer, Richard Paradise, for welcoming the film. Kristi will also be on hand after the screening to take questions and talk about her involvement with RefugePoint and our refugee clients.
The Last Survivor is a beautiful and affecting film made by Righteous Pictures and co-directed by Michael Pertnoy and Michael Kleiman. As the synopsis on the film’s website reads, “The Last Survivor” is a character-based, feature-length documentary film that presents the stories of genocide Survivors and their struggle to make sense of tragedy by working to educate, motivate and promulgate a civic response to mass atrocity crimes?.? The film has been featured at many prestigious film festivals since its premier, including the Human Rights Watch film festival in New York, and has garnered countless prizes.
If, like most of us, you’re not on Martha’s Vineyard, look for the film as it gains wider distribution throughout the U.S. If you are on M.V., be sure to catch the film tomorrow and Justin speaking live. If you’re lucky, he might even sing for you!
