Our Tactics

We take a three-pronged approach to achieving impact:

icon-direct-services

Direct Services: Providing services to meet the needs of individuals and households.

icon-field-building

Field Building: Supporting other organizations to accelerate and expand programs for reaching refugee populations.

icon-system-change

Systems Change: Influencing policy and decision-makers to drive large-scale change.

Refugee Solutions

We help refugees to find lasting solutions through self-reliance (helping them to meet their own essential needs) and through resettlement and other pathways to safety such as relocation for employment, education, and family reunification.

Resettlement and Other Pathways to Safety

Resettlement involves permanently relocating refugees to a safe country where they can rebuild their lives. It is often the best option for refugees who cannot return home and cannot reside safely in the country to which they have fled. RefugePoint identifies at-risk refugees and connects them with resettlement opportunities. Once they are referred to a receiving government, other agencies take over the resettlement process from there. We also help refugees to access other pathways to safety, such as relocation for employment, education, and family reunification.

Self-Reliance

Self-reliance involves stabilizing refugees in the countries to which they have fled and helping them to advance, socially and economically, so that they can meet their essential household needs. Most refugees won’t have the opportunity to resettle or return to their homes. However, given the right supports, many refugees are able to rebuild their lives in the host country to which they have fled.

Self-Reliance Initiative

The Refugee Self-Reliance Initiative is a collaboration among NGOs, UNHCR, foundations, government agencies, the private sector and others that aims to support refugees to achieve a better quality of life and regain agency over their finances and futures, while at the same time supporting the peace, stability and prosperity goals of the hosting countries. The Initiative is focused on promoting self-reliance opportunities for refugees around the world to enjoy lives of dignity and hope, even during protracted periods of limbo in their host countries.
